Welcome to the New Sailing Season
A Message from the Vice Commodore John Fisher
I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to all our members, both returning and new. The anticipation of fresh winds, competitive racing, and shared adventures on the water should fill you all with tremendous enthusiasm for what lies ahead.
This year's programme of events stands as a testament to the extraordinary dedication of our volunteer community. Every race, social gathering, training session, and club improvement has been carefully planned and will be executed by members who generously donate their time, skills, and passion to our sailing family.
Our volunteers are the backbone of everything we accomplish. From race committee members who ensure fair and exciting competitions, to social coordinators who create memorable gatherings, to maintenance crews who keep our facilities in pristine condition each contribution makes our club the exceptional place it is today.
An Exciting Season of Events
Our volunteer organizing committee has crafted a diverse and engaging calendar that offers something for every sailor, regardless of experience level or sailing interests:
Competitive Racing Program
- Weekly club races featuring multiple divisions and handicap systems
- Annual regatta series with prestigious trophies
- Youth sailing Sunset Series, Cadet Week, Beastie Open to develop our next generation of sailors
Training and Development
- Comprehensive sailing instruction for beginners through advanced levels
- Safety seminars and on-water rescue training sessions
Social and Community Events
- Monthly social gatherings
- Family-friendly events including junior sailing with barbecues
- Annual awards celebrating achievements and contributions
Safety Remains Our Priority
As we embark on another season of adventure, safety remains our unwavering priority. Our safety Co ordinator has updated protocols, enhanced training programs, and ensured our rescue equipment meets the highest standards. We ask all members to participate in safety briefings and maintain current certifications. Remember that sailing is most enjoyable when practiced safely and responsibly.
Join us on the Water
The success of our sailing season depends on active participation from our entire membership. Whether you're interested in competitive racing, leisurely cruising, learning new skills, or contributing your talents as a volunteer, there are countless ways to engage with our sailing community.
I encourage you to review the complete events calendar, sign up using the new website www.dabchicks.org for activities that interest you, and consider volunteering for events that align with your skills and availability. Your participation and enthusiasm are what make our club special.
Welcome aboard for another fantastic sailing season!
Sincerely,
Vice Commodore
