The club has a thriving keelboat section with both racing and cruising, something for everyone.

Friday night racing is very popular. The race is followed by a meal in the clubhouse and much post-race discussion in the bar.

Weekend racing is organised jointly with West Mersea Yacht Club with IRC for sportsboats, local handicap and white sail fleets under NHC.

There are also joint cruises in company throughout the year with a variety of destinations including the Suffolk rivers, the Medway, France and Holland.

If you are not a keelboat owner there is always someone looking for a crew.

When: Every week during May until mid August, first start usually 19.00.

Where: The Keelboat start-line near the Nass Beacon. Please check Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions for details.

What: Short leg “around the cans” racing. Usually two starts, slow boats off first.  Finishes often timed to coincide with the fantastic sunsets.

Après Sail: Delicious, ample portioned, hot meals available in the Clubhouse afterwards (pre-ordering essential). The Dabchicks bar is open until midnight for post race chat.

The best way to end your working week!
